Preparing for Bed Making:
- Remove any filthy sheets from the bed.
- Examine the mattress pad / mattress protector for any stains, tears, or damage. If it’s not straight, straighten it out and make sure the mattress and box spring are both level.
- To avoid injury, adjust the mattress with your leg rather than your back.
- Remove the mattress pad if it is stained.
- Place a clean mattress pad on the mattress as follows:
- Place a new pad on the bed.
- Right-side up, unfold the pad and distribute it evenly across the bed’s center.
- Any wrinkles should be smoothed out.
- Mattress pads and mattress protectors available in a variety of sizes; make sure you get the right one.
- Check to see if you have the right size sheets.
- Do not use a sheet that is discolored or ripped. Place them in your basic linen bag right away.
- Take three new sheets and four pillow covers / slips, depending on the size of your bed.
- Getting ready for bed:
- Pull the bed away from the headboard a little.
- Spread the first bed sheet across the bed and tuck the bottom half of the bed in except for the four corners.
- Pull the loose end of the sheet straight out, about a foot from the corner at the head of the bed, making a flap. Pull the flap up to the point where it is flat.
- In the free section of the corner, tuck in.
- Pull the flap out in front of you and down over the bed’s side. Fold the flap over and tuck it in.
- Repeat the technique in the corner at the foot of the bed on the same side of the bed.
- From the edge of the mattress, spread the second sheet wrong side up.
- Place the quilt 6″ below the second sheet.
- Cover the quilt with the third sheet.
- Fold the second sheet over the quilt, as well as the third sheet, in a 6″ to 8″ fold.
- Tuck the sheets tightly under the mattress.
- Tuck the second sheet, quilt, and third sheet tightly together at the foot of the bed.
- The corners, maitre.
- Tuck the loose ends of the pillows into the new pillowcase.
- Carry on with the rest of the pillows in the same manner.
- Position the pillow on the bed with the tucked edges facing the center and the tucked flaps on the other side.
- Arrange the bedspread on the bed so that it hangs evenly on both sides and at the foot of the bed.
- If you detect stains or tears in the bedspread, notify the supervisor.
- Smooth the bedspread to the head of the bed over the pillows.
- Tuck the remainder of the bedspread under the pillow’s front edge.
- Make the bed’s surface smooth.
- Check for evenness on both sides of the bedspread.
- Return the bed to the exact position on the side of the headboard.
- The bed’s four corners are all mitered appropriately. The bed linens are clean and well-pressed. The bed must be firm.
- The pillow is roughly 20″ long from the headboard to the bed fold.
